Our preschool

How to enrol

Expressions of interest to enrol at our public preschool for Term 4 2026 are now closed.

Families who completed the form will receive an outcome on their expression of interest via email.

We will make enrolment offers in line with the enrolment priority outlined in the public preschool enrolment procedure. If more expressions of interest are received than available places, our school principal will form a placement panel to assess these.

Enrolment offers will be made as soon as our preschool is granted service approval. Service approval is the ‘green light’ from the NSW Early Learning Commission that enables us to operate. It is a legislated requirement that ensures children attending our public preschool receive quality early education and care in a safe, engaging environment.

Expressions of Interest for 2027 are anticipated to open in Term 4 2026. We are unable to accept 2027 Expressions of Interest at this time.

Why choose our public preschool?

Our public preschool is a fee-free preschool at Gables Public School. It’s an easy choice for local families with young children.

We give every child the start in early childhood education. At our preschool, children explore, ask questions and grow in a safe and caring place. Our friendly team helps each child learn and feel good through fun, hands-on play that builds confidence and curiosity.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our preschool.

Preschool days and hours

Our preschool will operate the same days and hours as our whole school. Our hours will be 9:15 am to 3:15 pm during the school term. The preschool does not operate during school holidays.

We have 3 preschool classes, each catering for up to 20 children per day.

For Term 4 2026 our preschool offers two attendance options.

Option 1 : Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

Option 2: Thursday & Friday

Fees

We do not charge fees to attend our preschool. NSW public preschools are funded by the NSW government.

Enrolment information

Public preschools enrol children for one year only, in the year before they start school. Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn 4 years of age before 31 July that year.

Unlike NSW public schools, there are no enrolment boundaries for public preschools. Children do not need to live in our school’s local enrolment intake area (catchment area) to apply. If the number of applications exceeds the number of available places, enrolments will be prioritised in accordance with the Public Preschool Enrolment Procedure.

Enrolment in a preschool class does not guarantee a place in Kindergarten at our school. School Finder can help families find their local public school.

For more information, please contact our school office or visit the Enrolment in a public preschool webpage.
